Chorley in the Great War was formed in 2014 and looks at the involvement of the Lancashire Borough of Chorley in ”The War to end all Wars”. Men and women from the town and surrounding villages served in all theatres of the war from 1914 to 1919 – with the Royal Navy at Jutland, with the RFC and RAF over The Western Front and in land campaigns at Mons, Gallipoli, The Somme, Arras, Ypres, Salonica, Italy, Mesopotamia, Palestine and in East Africa.
All are welcome to join us and attend our six meetings in the year where guest speakers present illustrated talks. We also organise a trip in the summer – our trip in 2017 is to the National Memorial Arboretum. Members benefit from free entry to meetings and access to research facilities when looking for information about family members or their local community.
